Frank Goodyear is the Assistant Curator of Photographs at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. He is also an affiliated faculty member in the American Studies department at George Washington University, where he directs courses in the field of American Visual Cultures. Goodyear's book, Red Cloud: Photographs of a Lakota Chief was published by University of Nebraska Press in 2003. In 1998 he completed his Ph.D. dissertation on American Landscape Photography and the Birth of American Tourism.
