The Oryx Press, a Phoenix-based publisher of reference books for high
school, public, and academic libraries, is looking for a qualified person
to write or oversee (as editor-in-chief) a book on women and the Vietnam
war. Ideally, the person should know the field (including both sides); be a

good writer, able to write for a wide readership; be able to meet deadlines

(the book will take 1 1/2 to 2 years to put together); and, if the book
will
be an edited work, know a lot of people in the field, be highly
disciplined,
and understand how to edit other people's writing. In addition, the person
should be interested or knowledgeable in much more than the military
aspects of the war. (The two current encyclopedias focus on the military
and say little about women.) There will be a modest advance, along with
royalties. Please note that this is not a job and that the advance is not
large enough to live on for very long.

Interested people should send a letter and c.v. (preferably via email) to:
