"I Always Had Pads with Me": A G.I. Artist's Sketchpad, 1943-1944
 
 

This is laying wire. This is how you did it. Our job was to keep all the lines of communication working. If a tank went through it would chop it up into sections as wide as the treads, just chop the whole damn line which happened often, there was so much phone wire lying around.
