Frank H. Goodyear, III, is the associate curator of photographs at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery and an affiliated faculty member in the American Studies department at George Washington University. He is the author of Red Cloud: Photographs of a Lakota Chief, Zaida Ben-Yusuf: New York Portrait Photographer, and Faces of the Frontier: Photographic Portraits from the American West, 1845-1924.
