Dear Colleagues:
I have enjoyed this forum. Dr. Foner, thanks so much. By the way, it
was great meeting you at University of Delaware last week. I really enjoyed
your talk.
Those of you who are still interested in scholarship on contemporary
Black stereotypes and hiphop culture, scholar Michael Eric Dyson has been
doing work in this area. Check out his book Race Rules. Also, Bell Hooks is
a cultural critic who has written extensively in this area. Check out her
book Outlaw Culture as well as Black Looks, Race and Representation. Okay,
one more. There is a film called Ethnic Notions by Marlon Riggs (you will
have to get this through your university library). Also, Spike Lee's newest
"joint" Bamboozled which is available at your local video store. Take care
all!
Best wishes,
Arica
