As the head of the American History section of the Southwestern Historical
Association (an affiliate of the Southwestern Social Sciences), I would like
to invite you to submit a paper or panel for the annual meeting to be held
in New Orleans, at the Fairmont Hotel, March 27-30, 2002. Individual papers
and panels will be accepted. Current information on the meeting is
available at http://www.sssaonline.org. If your paper is in the area of
American history send the information to me at ewelle@sjcd.cc.tx.us. If you
have a paper in European or Asian History, please send it to Dr. Bullitt
Lowry at blowry@unt.edu. If your paper is in Latin American/African
History, please send it to Dr. Barbara Ganson at bganson@fau.edu.
Both professional historians and graduate students are welcome to submit
paper topics, or panels. The absolute deadline is October 15, 2001. Please
share this paper with friends and colleagues. New Orleans is beautiful in
the Spring and is usually a top draw for our conference, attracting about
1500 academicians from across the country, including 350-500 historians. We
have presenters each year from California to Massachusetts and from Florida
to Minnesota, besides the usual contingent from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana,
Arkansas, Kansas, and New Mexico.
If you have any questions, please just e-mail me directly (not using the
list serve) by replying to the "cc" above. You can also do the same if you
would like to present a paper or panel.
